2009 AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day Hosted by Alpha Team K9 Search and Rescue Jim Miller Park 2245 Callaway Road Marietta  GA  30008 Sunday, August 30th, 12-5 For additional event information, contact: Grant Juneau (404) 514 - 0650 gsjuneau@bellsouth.net We will have a booth at the second annual AKC Responsible Dog Ownership event. There will be Search & Rescue and Police K9 demos, Hug-A-Tree child safety presentations, Microchip Clinic, AKC Canine Good Citizen testing and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy information, giveaways, vendor displays and booths, dog wash, carnival games, owner/pet look alike contest, food, and more.  The venue is covered so we will have fun come rain or shine.  Bring your pet and show your support for Responsible Dog Ownership and K9 Search & Rescue. AKC Canine Good Citizen testing: Your dog can take the test and a passing score gives your dog the special title as a Canine Good Citizen. This title helps dogs and owners gain respect in their community. You can observe the test before signing up to see if your dog can do it. If he fails you will get training tips to help you pass the next time.

Cat Clinic of Cobb Open House Saturday, June 6th from 1pm to 5pm The Cat Clinic of Cobb is having an open house and we will be there providing information on Pet Trusts. For more information on the event and directions visit www.catclinicofcobb.com. The goal of this open house is to raise awareness and collect funding and pet food for Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen. This organization, with branches throughout the United States, provides free pet food for people in need. Rescue groups and animal shelters recognize that it is more economical for the community and much more humane for all involved, to help people keep their pets rather than try to find new homes for those pets. Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen is on the front lines of this endeavor, with a warehouse in Lawrenceville handling 10,000 to 15,000 pounds of pet food each month. They need food, and they need funding. Therefore, the price of admission to our open house will be a little cash or a little pet food. Open bags of food are acceptable, but the food cannot be out of date. There will be lots of fun stuff at the clinic on Saturday!! * Our Catnappers Bed and Breakfast will be featuring a collection of exotic cat breeds, from the enormous longhaired Maine Coon Cat to the petite hairless Sphynx. Information about each breed will be provided. * Professional Pet Photographer Donna Sheffield will be on site taking amazing photographs of pet cats, like the portraits of Bugsy and Tigger on this page. Only 24 appointments will be available, so you need to call early to schedule a photo shoot. The $25.00 sitting fee includes a free 4 X 6 print, and proceeds will be donated to Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen. * Barbeque, drinks, and special treats from Rita's Ice of Sprayberry Square will be provided.
